Hi {name},

💬 From the President

G'day everyone,

October is our big month. The Fred Campbell $10,000 Hole in One Ambrose is on this Sunday, and the Chicken Run is back on Tuesdays from next week. The course is in pretty good knick after the spring fertilising, and there's a story from the club's early days below that's worth a read. Plenty on — see you on the fairways.

Cheers,
Pete

🎉 Fred Campbell $10,000 Hole in One Ambrose — This Sunday 18 October

Fred Campbell $10,000 Hole in One Ambrose Golf Day - Sunday 18 October

It's here. Final arrangements are done and the board is set — all eyes on that hole in one.

  • $10,000 hole in one prize on the 17th — all hole-in-ones paid out!
  • 4-person Ambrose — $50 per person or $200 per team
  • Morning coffee & BBQ lunch
  • Raffles, food and drinks available throughout the day
  • Sunday 18 October — 9:00am arrival, tee off 9:30am
  • Limited to 128 players — registrations close today, Friday 16 October, 5.00pm
  • Register online at wentygolf.com/ambrose

Spectators welcome — bring the family, buy a raffle ticket, make a day of it. Watch the action at the 17th hole where the players battle out the quest for the $10,000 hole in one. The BBQ will be running there and refreshments available. A big thank you to the hole sponsors who've backed the day.

🐔 The Chicken Run is Back — Tuesday 20 October

The Chicken Run - First Prize: A Chicken - Tuesdays from 20 October

Our midweek twilight comp returns — 9 holes in the evening sun, and home before dark.

  • Every Tuesday from 20 October — 5.00pm hit off
  • $10 per head
  • Your handicap starts at half your present handicap — winner takes 3 points off, 2nd takes 2, 3rd takes 1, everyone else goes out by 1 point
  • Win a chicken! — frozen chickens for the placegetters
  • And once a month the BBQ fires up after the run

Carts are available for hire through the twilight times — book online at wentygolf.com or ring the club. Round up a few mates and give it a run.

📜 A Step Back in Time — Minutes Dating Back to 1913

While tidying up, we found club minutes dating back to 1913 — a window into how long golf has been played here on the river, and how the club found its feet long before us.

The plan is to have a proper look through them and share the stories — including how the club recovered after the 2022 flooding — maybe in the Sunraysia Daily. The Historical Society has first option on the originals; if not, they'll be displayed in the club's display cupboard. We'll keep you posted as they're sorted.

🌿 Course & Maintenance

All greens (a redo on the 10th) and tees have been fertilized, the fairways got their spring spray, and watering is back on. The course is in pretty good knick — come and see for yourself. A big thanks as always to our volunteers who keep it that way.

See you out on the course — keep it in the short grass.
